Bobcat Health and Safety

Bobcat Families,

I wanted to reach out to keep you updated on our ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and communication within our organization.

There has been a spotlight on football in the past weeks regarding an incident with an NFL player and an emergency that occurred on the field. Like some of you, I could not resist playing the various scenarios in my head and how the end would play out. We all hoped and prayed, but what unfolded on that field was reality and the outcome could have been grim.

Prior to this event, our organization had already been making preseason plans to make some changes to the organization and its emergency action plans.

What you need to know as a parent and as a community member is that the safety of your child is our number one priority. This organization is prepared, and we are one step ahead!

First, moving forward all coaches, football and cheer, will be CPR trained as well as trained on how to handle the AED machine (defibrillator). Furthermore, all board members will be REQUIRED to be certified in both as well.

Second, we have always had a certified trainer on site and we will continue to do so. However, the board feels that we need to take that a step further and have decided to contract a medical team that will be able to provide a holistic approach in the event your child, yourself or a spectator encounters a medical emergency. Meaning, a trainer will be on the field, but if you need to be seen by a doctor, albeit an orthopedic, emergency or even neurological, there will be someone meeting you at the emergency room, clinic or office. The last thing we want as parents is for our kids to have to wait to be seen in an ER. This partnership will be one more safeguard in place in the event we need it.

Third, we have had discussions with NISD and we have Emergency Action Plans in place as well as the AED machine on site at our field. This has been a goal and it has happened. That machine is within a few seconds reach in the event we need it, although I hope to never need it!

At the end of the day, we want to make sure you are at peace with your child in any sport they are involved in. Bobcat Youth will continue to adjust as needed and look for ways to improve our standard of excellence. If you have concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me directly at

Thank you,

Stacey Bauer President Bobcat Youth Football and Cheer
