Bobcat Youth is proud to partner with USA football in implementing their Football Development Model.  This initiative was devised by medical, football, and athlete development experts with the goal of developing age-appropriate teaching methods, standards to reduce contact, and progressive athletic development.

Through BYFO's Flag -to- Rookie Tackle -to- Tackle progression we provide a measured and safe way to develop, learn the game, and improve skill.

USA Football FDM Parent Guide

USA Football

K-2nd Flag

Flag is the primary game type of Non-Contact.  It is a great first introduction to football;  fast moving and fun.  Players will learn skills and rules associated with the game.

Played on a shortened field with reduced numbers (8 on 8) to encourage lots of playing time.

  • K/1st grade are combined and played with a coach at QB.

  • 2nd grade utilizes a player QB.

3rd Rookie Tackle

Starting in 3rd grade, players are introduced to full contact through Rookie Tackle.

The field and number of players is reduced to allow for more direct teaching of important skills.

Rules are adjusted to make it more manageable and fun while teaching the fundamentals of the game.

ROOKIE TACKLE

4th - 6th Tackle

11 on 11 tackle football played on a full sized field.

Players will be in full pads and will be taught the basic rules, fundamentals, and skills needed to enjoy the game. Teamwork, safety, and positive coaching will be the foundation created within this division so that these young players and their families will be able to enjoy football for years to come.

7 on 7

K - 6th Grade

7on7 is a fast moving version of flag style football without flags and no pads...one hand touch to down the receiver.

The intent of 7on7 is to help develop the passing game on offense and coverage on defense.

Tons of fun in a 40 minute running clock. It is open for K thru 6th grade for both boys and girls. We also encourage our boys who are lineman in the Fall to come out and pass and catch and score some TD's in the Spring.
