Where will the games be played?
Game locations will vary depending on who is fielding teams in each respective grade. Either way we will have approximately 4 home games (Byron Nelson High School) and 4 away games. The BYFO (Bobcat Youth Football Organization) is part of the North Texas Football League (NTFL). This organization is composed of leagues from Southlake, Coppell, Grapevine, Colleyville, Trophy Club, Roanoke, Justin and Lantana. All of these leagues play their games predominantly at their respective high school or middle school fields.
Is this a "Select" Program?
No, however it is competitive. All kids will play and there will only be tryouts when we are required to have two teams at the same grade level. The tryouts would then be used to ensure an equal and fair team building (draft) process.
What are the player eligibility requirements?
All eligibility requirements are subject to the rules, restrictions and guidelines of the league that the BYFO partners with.
All children that live within the Northwest Independent School District (NISD) that meet all other requirements are eligible.
The BYFO is a "grade pure" association having a team for each tackle age group grades 3-6. *For flag football, we will have mixed teams of 1st graders and below, and a team for second grade. There is additionally an age restriction for each grade. Eligibility is determined based upon the players age as of September 1 of the playing year.

What are the coaching qualifications?
All Coaches in the league are required to be certified through USAFootball.com and must be approved by the Board of Directors. Part of the Board of Directors review will include a background check.
Will there be Cheerleading?
Yes. We have an exciting and safe cheerleading program. Details of our program can be found here.
Where will practices be?
Teams will practice at Independence East Park, Beck Park or Cannon Park in Trophy Club and Raonoke. But, with tight space and depending on how many teams are in the association, some teams may practice elsewhere in the community.
Do I need to buy equipment?
The association will provide equipment (helmet & shoulder pads) to registered tackle players. The association will provide a game jersey to all registered football players. Cheer uniforms must be purchased by the parents for Cheerleading.
All football players will be required to purchase their own game socks, mouth guard, cleats, gloves, etc. A complete list of recommended equipment will be provided to registered players as we get closer to the season.
Is the league affiliated with the Byron Nelson Bobcats?
BYFO does attempt to plan activities with the BNHS Bobcats; however the league has no official affiliation with the BNHS Bobcats.
What is parent involvement?
The association aims to become an integral part of the Trophy Club, Roanoke and surrounding BNHS zoned Community. Parents or supporters can get involved in numerous ways. There will be an annual season kickoff party at the Trophy Club Pool or comparable location. Those interested will have many opportunities to support the teams by working the chains, helping at practices, etc. The league also plans to engage in activities that will support our local communities.

How long is the season?
The season will begin mid to late July and end late October or early November, depending on your team's success in the playoffs. Specific dates will be determined by NTFL.
How many practices will there be?
Coaches will be restricted to no more than 3 practices per week once school starts. No practices are allowed on Sundays. Maximum practice length is 2 hrs. No weekday practice may start prior to 5 pm.
